microcebe2.jpgThe mouse lemur platform (UMR MECADEV CNRS/MNHN 7179) is the biggest mouse lemur breeding colony ever created. The mouse lemur colony was founded in 1967 by M. and Mrs Petter and has been maintained autonomously from this time.

This success was exported abroad the world (including Montpellier, Germany and USA) and results in an internationally recognized expertise. The peculiarities of the mouse lemur model offer broad attractiveness and expertise in various fields of research including ethology, socio-biology, ecophysiology, functional anatomy, neurobiology, molecular biology, evolution. This resource is increasingly solicited by a large international network of scientists. The pluridisciplinarity of the research performed on the mouse lemur demonstrates the value of this primate as a model for biological studies.

Services provided by the platform cover a broad range of disciplines, and are supported by numerous specific techniques available on the platform, which has participated to increase the attractiveness of the platform for a long time now. Due to the expertise in the mouse lemur reproduction, a large number of animals is available.

To date, due to its historical implantation, its size, the provided expertise and the large panel of techniques available, the mouse lemur platform of Brunoy, the largest mouse lemur breeding colony in the world, is a major scientific pole for the development of innovative and pluridisciplinary research. One additional proof, if needed, of its attractiveness and acknowledgment by the scientific community was the organization of the 2nd International Mouse Lemur Workshop by the MECADEV in October 2015. This event gathered mouse lemur specialists from all over the world, working together at the promotion of the model for purposes going from conservation to genomic investigations.
